lub fitting using Trackman Technology is adata-driven approach to optimizing a golfer's equipment for their specificswing characteristics. Trackman provides comprehensive data on various aspectsof a golfer's shot, including ball flight, spin rates, dynamic loft, and angleof descent. Let's break down these key factors and how they relate to club fitting:

SPIN RATE: Rate refers to the number of revolutions the golf ball makes per minute after impact.  Spin rates are crucial for determining the distance, trajectory, and control of a golf shot. Different clubs and ball combinations will produce varying spin rates.   Too much spin and the golfer may struggle to control their ball flight (especially in windy conditions) and might lose distance.  Conversely, a golfer with a low spin rate might find their yardages become unpredictable and holding greens with approach shots will be a challenge.

DYNAMIC LOFT:  Is the effective loft angle of the clubface at the moment of impact. It will be different from the static loft (the loft angle of the clubface at address) due to factors like the golfer's swing mechanics and the shaft's bend profile. Dynamic loft affects launch angle and spin rate.  A golfer with too low dynamic loft may need equipment adjustments or clubhead designs that increase dynamic loft to achieve a higher launch angle, helping them carry the ball further and potentially stop it more quickly on the greens.  A golfer with too much dynamic loft might need equipment changes to reduce it, potentially leading to a lower launch angle for better distance and control.  Swing technique plays a dominant role in whether too much or too little dynamic loft is presented at impact.

ANGLE OF DESCENT: Refers to the angle at which the ballapproaches the target after it reaches its peak height. This is critical forcontrolling how the ball reacts when landing on the green.  A steep angle of descent is often desirablefor iron shots to help stop the ball quickly on the green.  For certain shots, like tee shots with a driver,a shallower angle of descent may be preferable for maximizing roll anddistance. Equipment changes may be necessary to achieve this.

Using Trackman, our PGA Professionals will analyse these keyparameters along with other data like clubhead speed, ball speed, launch angle, and more. They will work with the golfer to find the right combination ofclubheads, shafts, and golf balls to optimize performance based on the golfer'sswing characteristics and playing goals. This process can lead to improveddistance, accuracy, and consistency in a golfer's game.

Is there a benefit to switching to an oversized grip?
Oversize grips, once thought suitable only for those with large hands or arthritis, are now recognised as beneficial for various golfers, offering advantages such as increased grip surface area, reduced hand pressure, improved shock absorption, and enhanced alignment. These grips can promote a smoother swing, better shot consistency, and improved accuracy, although they may not suit all players, necessitating individual experimentation to find the best fit for one's swing characteristics and preferences.

What is Dynamic Loft, and How Can We Optimise It?
Dynamic loft in golf, determined by factors like swing technique and angle of attack, should ideally be around 70% of the club's static loft, adjusted based on swing speed and desired ball flight, crucial for shot trajectory and distance, but should be considered alongside spin rates, with adjustments possible through angle of attack and hand position, best analysed with guidance from PGA Professionals.

What Exactly Is Gear Effect?
Gear effect in golf involves the influence of a ball's flight path by the location of impact on the clubface, where off-center hits cause the clubhead to twist, resulting in spin that affects shot accuracy and distance, highlighting the importance of understanding and minimizing its impact, especially with faster clubhead speeds, as it can lead to unexpected ball flights regardless of club type.
